SolarWorld Americas maintains full operation
The U.S. subsidiary of the German manufacturer maintains full operations at its facility in Hillsboro, Oregon, although its parent company and its German units filed for insolvency last week.
SolarWorld Americas Inc., the U.S. unit of German solar manufacturer SolarWorld AG, seems not to be involved by the insolvency of its parent company and its German subsidiaries. According to a press release from the Oregon-based unit, it is operating as usual and maintaining full operations. The company also said it is continuing to implement efficiencies and working with external partners to position the company for stabilization and a continued competitive position in the marketplace.
“We deeply appreciate the ongoing support of our loyal customers in the Americas at this tumultuous time for the solar industry,” said the president of SolarWorld Americas Juergen Stein.
The Bonn court in Germany has named Horst Piepenburg as SolarWorld’s temporary administrator. On the same day, the company’s German units Solarworld Industries Sachsen GmbH, Solarworld Industries Thüringen GmbH, Solarworld Industries Deutschland GmbH and Solarworld Innovations GmbH have also filed for insolvency, and Piepenburg was also named as temporary administrator of all them.
