:: Step into a new reality…www.Go100Percent.org

+ 31.03.2012 + Visit www.Go100Percent.org and see 100% Renewable Energy happening now.

Across the globe — in regions, cities, communities, businesses, and individual lives — people are proving that 100% renewable energy is not a fantasy for someday, but a reality today. Each of us is part of the problem of dependence on fossil and nuclear energy and its harmful impacts on current and future generations. Each of us can also be part of the solution. Go100Percent.org shows people doing it.

Come check out the small rural town in Germany that has achieved 5000% renewable electricity. See the villages in Africa that have electricity for the first time with solar panels. Learn about the U.S. town in the Midwestern heartland that rebuilt itself based on sustainable principles, including 100% renewable energy, after being destroyed by a tornado in 2007. Go100Percent.org links them and dozens of other 100% renewable energy pioneers for the first time in an inclusive virtual community.

More about go 100%

What we are: Go 100% is a global community, which is proving that being powered by 100% sustainable renewable energy is urgent and achievable. Anyone curious about, striving for, or who has achieved this aim is welcome. The virtual gathering space is www.Go100Percent.org a project of the Renewables 100 Policy Institute .

What we do: We aim to inspire each other and others to reach the 100% renewable energy goal locally and globally by building an interactive map of 100% renewable energy-related projects and goals around the world. Mapped so far: 8 Countries, 28 Cities, 28 Regions, 7 Utilities, 11 NonProfit /Educational/Public Institutions, totaling more than 30.7 million people (and counting…) who have shifted or are committed to shifting within the next few decades to 100% renewable energy in at least one sector (e.g. electricity, transportation, heating/cooling). publishing relevant news and editorials providing educational tools, like links to books, studies and films catalyzing a virtual discussion where the Go 100% community can help develop best practices, forge partnerships, and build strength in numbers.

Why we are doing it: The conventional fossil and nuclear energy system has led to multiple convergent existential crises, including climate change, air and water pollution, destruction of the oceans, the threat of mass extinction, water and food shortages, poverty, nuclear radiation problems, nuclear weapons proliferation, fuel depletion, and geopolitical problems.

The world's leading scientists have issued a mandate that we must change this energy system to a sustainable one based on conservation, efficiency and renewable energy in the near future or risk losing planetary habitability.

Gloom and despair are not healthy options. Focusing on solutions is. Without turning a blind eye to the problems, it's time to widen our view, see what works, and make the necessary changes. For the sake of our kids, future generations, and the many who are already suffering the impacts of fossil and nuclear fuel dependence.
