Meeting the world’s growing need for energy will require more than trillion in investment over the period to 2035, according to a special report on investment released today by the International Energy Agency (IEA) as part of the World Energy Outlook series. Today’s annual investment in energy supply of .6 trillion needs to rise steadily over the coming decades towards  trillion. Annual spending on energy efficiency, measured against a 2012 baseline, needs to rise from 0 billion today to more than 0 billion by 2035.

Many Western governments, including the United States and the European Union, are engaged in bilateral „Human Rights Dialogue“ with China. This dialogue is adopted as the primary instrument to promote human rights in the People’s Republic of China (PRC).

Women in Syria have been arbitrarily arrested and detained, physically abused, harassed, and tortured during Syria’s conflict by government forces, pro-government militias, and armed groups opposed to the government, Human Rights Watch said in a report released today. The United Nations Committee on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW Committee) will conduct a review of the situation for Syrian women on July 4, 2014, in Geneva.
