Methan ist ein wichtiger Vorl\u00e4uferstoff von bodennahem Ozon, einem Schadstoff mit gravierenden Folgen f\u00fcr die menschliche Gesundheit und die Wirtschaft. So beziffert die EEA die wirtschaftlichen Verluste durch Ozon-bedingte Ernteausf\u00e4lle auf zwei Milliarden Euro pro Jahr. Die Deutsche Umwelthilfe (DUH) fordert die drastische Reduzierung der Methan-Emissionen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dazu J\u00fcrgen Resch, Bundesgesch\u00e4ftsf\u00fchrer der DUH: <em>&#8222;Der neue Bericht der Europ\u00e4ischen Umweltagentur macht deutlich: Methan ist nicht nur ein Klimakiller, sondern auch ein zentraler Treiber der Ozonbelastung &#8211; mit dramatischen Folgen f\u00fcr unsere Gesundheit und Wirtschaft. Die durch Methan befeuerte Ozonbelastung in Deutschland f\u00fchrt zu 22.924 Todesf\u00e4llen pro Jahr. Wir fordern genau wie die EEA dringend konkrete Ma\u00dfnahmen zur Reduzierung des Methan-Aussto\u00dfes. Doch anstatt zu handeln, subventioniert die Bundesregierung weiter die industrielle Tierhaltung &#8211; eine der gr\u00f6\u00dften Methanquellen.
