Money, influence and power are more important to the old energy conglomerates than the future of our children and grandchildren.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, however, in the run-up to the next World Climate Summit, COP31<\/a>, to be held in Antalya, Turkey, in November 2026, 35 countries have declared their commitment to electrification and resolved to ensure that 50 per cent of global energy consumption comes from electricity by 2050. This target is still not very ambitious.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With today\u2019s technologies, it could be achieved ten or even 15 years earlier. Storage capacities could also be in place by then. \u201cThe British think tank Ember<\/a> has just calculated that 75 per cent of the planet\u2019s land surface could be permanently supplied with electricity using solar, wind, batteries and back-up for less than 100 dollars per megawatt-hour.\u201d (Christian St\u00f6cker im Spiegel, 27 September 2026<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whilst the major Asian powers, China and India, are driving forward electrification through renewable energy on a grand scale, Germany is currently introducing its third fuel discount for petrol and diesel. And the country must be worried about whether its gas reserves will be sufficient for a cold winter. Under Chancellor Merz and Economy Minister Reiche, Germany is orienting itself towards 19th-century fuels rather than the electrification of the 21st century.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is hardly surprising, then, that the country is facing economic backwardness and mass unemployment. It is downright ridiculous when the Chancellor and the Economy Minister go on to talk about the need for innovation and modernisation whilst, at the same time, practising the exact opposite. Under this federal government, Germany will remain perpetually backward with its current energy policy. And energy supply is the prerequisite for economic and environmental progress. When the industrialised nations switched from horses to cars 130 years ago, nobody called for \u2018technological openness\u2019 in favour of the horse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 21st century is the century of electrification<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The future is electric, powered by renewable energy<\/a>. Fossil fuels were good and right 100 years ago, but today they stand in the way of any real progress. The lesson of the scorching summer of 2026: Germany finally needs a climate chancellor. With the German fuel rebate, we are still financing the climate catastrophe and the oil sheikhs, even though they are already preparing for a solar future using German technology. A bitter irony of world history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The International Energy Agency (IEA) in Paris has also noted that rapid electrification ensures greater energy security, climate protection, more affordable energy and competitiveness. Germany is renewable, Europe is renewable, the world is renewable.<\/p>\n\n\n
