Delivering on the promise of wearable mobility, ACTON R RocketSkates are the world’s only lightweight, remote-free, strap-in motorized skates

ACTON, Inc., the leading developer of wearable mobility products, today unveiled its lightweight ACTON R RocketSkates™, the world’s first smart electric skates. Users simply strap in RocketSkates over their shoes and start cruising! As part of the product launch, ACTON will give away the first 25 RocketSkates for $199 on Kickstarter – $300 off the regular retail price.

RocketSkates are designed to be lightweight, and to function without the use of a remote control. ACTON also integrated smart technology so that RocketSkates can connect with an app on users’ smartphones. The app will include features such as route tracking, skate diagnosis, battery status, and games. Users can also interact with other RocketSkates owners.

A Software Developer Kit (SDK) will be available for developers interested in creating app features for RocketSkates.
“We’ve been promised a future of flying cars, jet packs, and rocket skates for all. Well, you can check one off the list – RocketSkates are here!” said Peter Treadway, founder and CTO of ACTON, and creator of RocketSkates.

There are three models available with increasing ranges; the R-6, which runs for 45 minutes; the R-8, which runs for 70 minutes; and the R-10, which runs for 90 minutes. To get Acton’s ‘Rocket Deal’ of $199 a pair, head to Acton’s Kickstarter page at 11:00 a.m. PDT today – but act fast, it is first come, first serve!

RocketSkates are lightweight, hands-free, and tons of fun. Equipped with four 50W DC brushless hub motors—two per skate—RocketSkates propel users at speeds reaching 10mph, can operate an estimated 90 minutes (up to a range of 10 miles) on a full charge. With a quick, strap-in design, lithium-ion batteries, adjustable footplate, rear-wheel suspension, and electronic and mechanical braking systems, RocketSkates fuse technology and artistry to create a unique transportation experience. RocketSkates also boast Smart Technology in the form of an intuitive app, for both IOS and Android users, that offers the ability to track routes and distances travelled, perform diagnostics on the RocketSkates, monitor battery status and interact with other skaters digitally.

CES attendees will be able to see RocketSkates and M-Scooter™ at booth #71832. And, for those with an insatiable curiosity, who are unable to resist the urge to give RocketSkates a go, instructional staff will be on-hand to provide demo rides on the 10’ x 40’ test track at our booth!
