The biggest solar farm that will be built built to date in Lithuania and the Baltics has been presented to the public. The solar farm located in the municipality of Anyksciai will have a fully operational capacity of 65 MW(ac). The solar park cements European Energy\u2019s position as the leading renewable energy developer in the Baltics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

European Energy has unveiled the biggest solar farm built to date in the Baltics. When the construction is fully finalized, the solar farm will have a capacity of 65 MW(ac).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The expectation is that the solar farm will be connected to the grid in Q4 2023. The solar farm is in the municipality of Anyksciai. This is the municipality where European Energy in 2021 started construction of a 50MW wind farm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2013 It is a milestone for European Energy to have reached so far in pushing the renewable energy development in Lithuania. We are happy that together with the help of our local partners in Anyksciai and the Lithuanian government, we can implement this, says Tadeusas Konkovskis, country manager of Lithuania for European Energy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When fully operational the solar farm will have more than 140,000 installed solar panels. The solar farm covers an area of more than 120 hectares. The solar panels are mounted on tracker systems, which will adjust the panels to the sunlight and therefore secure an optimal production from the panels throughout the day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The total output of the solar farm will be 90,000 MWh a year. This corresponds to the electricity consumption of around 24,000 households in Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2013 Our goal in Lithuania is to support the transition into a green economy, to contribute to the energy independence of all Baltics countries as well as the implementation of global goals related to climate change. Therefore, we are constantly investing to further strengthen the renewable energy sector of Lithuania, says Knud Erik Andersen, CEO of European Energy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

European Energy has to date invested more than EUR 460m in developing renewable energy projects in Lithuania. In total, the company plans to invest more than EUR 1.6b in wind and solar farms with a total capacity of more than 1,600 MW.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The solar farm in Anyksciai is not the only solar farm that European Energy is planning to connect to the Lithuanian grid. European Energy also has solar farm projects in Jonava and Skuodas. These solar farms are slated to be connected to Lithuanian national grid by 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

European Energy plans to build a Power-to-X facility as well in Lithuania. The investment for this is estimated to EUR 250m of investment. The facility will enable renewable energy to be used in the production of green hydrogen as well as e-methanol. The vision is that it will be able to provide green fuels for consumption in both Lithuania and abroad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As of August 2023, European Energy has grid connected more than 300 MW of renewable energy capacity in Lithuania and been responsible for the grid connection of six wind parks. This is nearly 25% of the total Lithuanian wind capacity.<\/p>\n\n\n
