„Iran – Photovoltaik-Market with the world’s best conditions“

According to expert opinion, Iran currently has one of the world’s most profitable feed-in tariffs with government-assured letter-of-credit payment (L/C) and state guarantees for foreign investors.

Franz Portmann, Swiss businessman and owner of NES New Energy Solutions GmbH, emphasizes his assessment and positive experience in the highly profitable photovoltaic market in Iran with 4 completed projects each of 30 MW/p. “It was only in cooperation with the local companies Silk Road Energy Technology (Solar & Benefit Persia) and MEWE Middle East Water & Environment that as one of the first foreign companies we were able to successfully realize these projects in a record time,” says Franz Portmann. “We will begin the construction of the photovoltaic parks in the first quarter of 2017 and will be connected to the network by end of September.”

The strong cooperation with SUNA (the responsible authority in the Iranian Ministry of Energy) and the national network operator TAVANIR in Semnan are key factors in this ongoing commitment for the future. According to expert opinion, Iran currently has one of the world’s most profitable feed-in tariffs with government-assured letter-of-credit payment (L/C) and state guarantees for foreign investors.

For this reason, further photovoltaic projects are being developed with companies from Iran, Germany, Austria and Bulgaria, together with these experienced local partners Silk Road Energy Technology and MEWE. Two projects, with 10 MW/p and 25 MW/p, are still starting in December. The parties are expecting the Power Purchase Agreements (PPA) at end of March 2017. In addition to state guarantees and feed-in tariffs, leading international companies such as REC-Solar/Norway, ABB, KACO, Gräss, Allianz and TÜV Süd from Germany, and for legal support Watson Farley & Williams LLP and DLC Dr. Littmann are part of this winning project consortium.

About Silk Road Energy Technology: The Renewable Energy Development Company, located in Tehran, is a subsidiary of Solar & Benefit Corporation, headed by the Iranian Dr. Akbar Golchini as Managing Director and Masoud Nassiri from MEWE as Vice Chairman. MEWE Middle East Water & Environment is a minority stakeholder in Silk Road Energy Technology.
